The Nuclear Envelope surrounds the nucleus with a double membrane.
Its outer membrane is continuous in many places with the Rough Endoplasmic Reticulum and dotted with Ribosomes. The inner membrane is a sheet-like structure of protein filaments.
During the interphase portion of cell division the surface of the membrane expands and the membrane doubles the number of nuclear pores.
